Banks made a presentation via Teams medium
Minutes of the meeting were taken and this will be a public domain document, when approved
A couple of RAID members were present and made the following anecdotal observations
(their personal interpretation is in italics):
- Banks stated no intent for wind farms "at the moment" (but....)
- A greenfield development is deemed "more desirable" (read marketable/profitable)
- Outside of the current boundary is "a better site" (not ease of build, but profit & single landowner)
- Announcing the proposal now may influence any area plan review (intense pressure to say yes)
- Banks are talking with the "Top 5" UK builders (this is a big prize -further expansion very possible)
- They didn't seem that fazed about current traffic, sewerage, GP/Dentist issues but would review further (Section 106 conditions - throwing some money into the NLC pot and local community will be required) (Why is talking to our medical services seemingly an afterthought?)
- May be prepared to help with the relied road £ (and encourage it's use as the new boundary)
- Vague about preserving existing trees/hedges (goodbye established hedges and large trees - saplings instead - green "substitution")
- Elusive about green (e.g. heat pump) heating schemes (the builders only need to meet current regs, valid until 2025 - not our problem) (By the way, concrete creates about 8% of global CO2 emissions - how green is that?)
Banks appeared to be confident that the proposal would get approved and seemed fairly relaxed about some of the problems it would create for the rest of the community
QUESTION: HOW MANY RESIDENTS DID THEY ACTUALLY INFORM ABOUT THIS PLAN?
DID THEY ASK YOUR OPINION?
SEEMS THAT BANKS WERE CAREFUL ABOUT HOW MANY PEOPLE THEY "CONSULTED" WHY IS THIS?
(RAID BELIEVES IT WILL BECOME VERY CLEAR SOON.....!)
REMEMBER - ALL BANKS NEED IS OUTLINE PLANNING PERMISSION
THEN THE BUILDERS WILL MOVE IN AND DETAIL PLANS WILL BE SUBMITTED
THEN "CAN WE CHANGE THE PLAN A BIT?"
THEN "JUST A BIT MORE?"
UP TO 400 HOMES? THAT MAY BE A FRACTION OF WHAT'S TO COME
WE WILL BE POWERLESS TO STOP THIS...
